Will self driving cars solve our Planets problems??

I  have always believed that technology will be the Preserver of the Planet however, today we are darting in all directions with the biggest marketing focus on the likes of Amazon Alexa,  Google Home, self-driving cars and mimicking one’s voice! Not sure how far will, we the technologist, take the Artificial-ness.

I classify these as Technologies of Convenience as defined in 2017 with a foresight that these technologies will permeate our lives (don’t want to be in a foot-in-mouth situation when I look back at my writings in half a decade). But I contest vigorously, the applications of these technological advancements in solving world hunger or towards sustainable living!

Today, several and more problems are faced by the planet and its inhabitants which need relentless focus and customization of these technologies.

We have to quickly move past the current enamor of Smart Cities to Biological Cities which moves past rudimentary IoT and the measurements that go along; this leap is far beyond any concerted use of the collection of technological applications that exist today. To build and maintain the infrastructure, it will take a deliberate commitment to change every supply chain, every process that exists today.

Can Google’s or Uber’s autonomous car technology improve the way we build roads in say the Indian Subcontinent; forget about high contrast road markings in the Subcontinent!
