Dear All,
I am forwarding the mail addressed to the Minister for Civil avaiation and his team that has permitted operation of third longest runway in Asia without even application of basic principles of planning.
Since Sector C-4 Vasant Kunj and the Ridge area where shopping malls, Shankar Vihar are now constructed though illegally in violation of all the laws, were in landing funnel therefore the height was restricted to two stories.
The falts in all other pockets are Three + One stories therefore, the aviation authorities cannot use that area as landing funnel as there is accident threat.
Since noise pollution level is so high above 100 Db, there is no reason that this run way could have been planned or constructed.
Having done so the Government is under obligation to set right the mistake that has been committed either by having another landing strip parallel to NH 8 where the land has been acquired as this area does not have any residential or business premises or insulate all the buildings from Noise Pollution at its own cost as has happened in the caser of Heathrow Airport.
Therefore, I request you all to please forward the mail to the Union Minister for Civil Aviation and his team by adding any other comments that you may have . Let us make them realise that they cannot take the public for granted.
I have also filed application sunder Right to Information seeking details. Once received I would be sharing the same with you all.
Further, I request you all to forward this mail in your group requesting all your friends to forward this mail to Praful and his team.

Dear Mr.Patel and your team of Bureaucrats
By permiting operation of the third run way without conducting the surveys and inviting suggsetions from the Residents of Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Munirka you have put to danger lives of thousands of citizens and also of the air passengers.
The questions that arise are:-
1. When you have shifted Hyderabad and Bangalore Airports out side City, why Delhi Airport was not shifted?
2. When Safdarjang Airport can be closed for Noise Pollution and security risks to VIP’s why Palam Airport copuld not be closed due to noise pollution and security risks to thousands of residents of Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Munirka, Mahipalpur?
3. When the Government is not able to save the shoppers on ground despite Police presence how can you save the Air Crafts that fly at very low height from being hit from ground?
4. When the Heatrow Airport was inaugurated, the same had to be closed down die to high level of Noise Pollution and the buildings falling in the landing funnel were insulated by the Government at its own expense, have you ever thought of residents of the area falling under landing funnel?
5. The Apex Court had been espousing about Noise Pollution and banned loud speakers and opressure horns in vehicles, how can you permit noise level above 100 db ?
6. When Apex Court has given green signal for Smoking Ban being a Pollutant, How can you subject the citizens with sucha high level of noise pollution caused by the Air Crafts?
7. On one hand the Nation had observed yesterday the World Heart Day and media had exposed the cost of combatting such a deadly problem how can you ignore the sleep disorders, hearing problems and other related problems the citizens would be subjected too?
Therefore, in view of the aforesaid there is an urgent need to stop use of third runway and explore alternative options that are available.
In case the issue is not resolved, the Courts are the only solution.

The 3rd runway has become operational and now the flights instead of hovering around land at the Airport without much of delay but with a deafening noise pollution which is most of the times above 100 Decibles more than the limit prescribed by the CPCB.
World over the flight tim erestrictions are followed and no flights take off at night time. Unfortunately while planning Airports and similar projects we treat the citizens as guinea pigs and do not bother at all. The classic example is opening of 3rd run way that has made lives of residents of Vasant Vihar, Muirka , Vasant Kunj miserable.
These areas are within landing funnel of the air port as such as a matter of public private parnership under which the Delhi Airport is being upgraded, the Public infact has been completely ignored.
Could you all please let us know as to what steps were taken to ensure that the noise pollution is minimal and if nottaken earlier, what steps you propose to initiate in this regard?
